Pukar Pokharel, 13, of Byas Municipality, was abducted by an unidentified group from near his home in Bhadgaun on Sunday morning. Pokharel said he escaped by jumping off the side window of the car used by the kidnappers and was able to find his way home. [break]
Pukar´s mother Radha Pokharel had learnt about the kidpanning only after receiving a phone call. "I was tense after Pukar didn´t come for lunch. But I consoled myself thinking he would be playing with his friends," said Pokharel. "And in the afternoon, we received a phone call and the caller said our son had been kidnapped but he managed to escape from the kidnappers was was safe at the caller´s house at Ghasikuwa," added Pokharel.
Pukar said an unidentified group of three persons huddled him inside a pink car where there already was another child.“There was another child inside the car with the hands and legs tied and face masked. He was dark-skinned and unknown to me," said Pukar.
"When they stopped the car to answer the call of nature, I jumped out the side window and escaped. It was my good luck that I met Lila Niraula and she contacted my parents," added Pukar.
Mira Pariyar, domestic help at Lila´s house said that they heard a child screaming for help in the compound and found an scared Pukar. "We found him and took him inside the house. He was very scared. After knowing what had happened, we finally contacted his parents,” said Pariyar.
Following the incident, police have intensified search for the kidnappers, said Superintendent of Police Dev Bahadur Bohora.
Pukar is a seventh grader at Satyawati Higher Secondary School in Damauli.
