According to the South Asia RADO´s letter to NOC, the period of ineligibility commences on December 22, 2011 and ends on December 21, 2013.
“Lachhuman Tamang committed an Anti-Doping Rule violation in accordance with Article 2.1 of the World Anti-Doping Code, Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or markers,” reads the letter.
A prohibited substance called Furosemide was found in Tamang´s urine sample in an analysis conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)-accredited laboratory, the National Doping Control Center at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand.
Pugilist Tamang had provided a urine sample for an out of competition test on October 23, 2011 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
According to the letter sent by South Asia RADO, its board member from Nepal spoke with the athlete and conveyed his answer to the RADO.
“He said he got the medicine over the counter on the advice of a medical shopkeeper for his urinary problem.
He confessed that he made a blunder by taking the medicine without seeking a doctor´s advice. He has accepted the sanction imposed on him by Results Management Committee,” states the letter of South Asia RADO.
