The boulder that fell down from a roadside cliff blocked the highway at Harre on Sunday night, leaving dozens of buses stranded for a whole day. [break]
It was only after the boulder was partially removed late Monday evening that the stranded buses were able to move through the still obstructed road section.
According to Tularam Sharma, an engineer with the Surkhet road division office, they used a rock breaker machine and two loaders brought from Nepalgunj to clear a section of the road.
“If it was just the debris of a landside, we could have easily opened the road,” Sharma said. “But the task was difficult as it was a huge rock.” Sharma said the rock would be completely removed only by Tuesday.
