Body of missing Indian youth found in Bagmati river

He was swept away by a sudden surge in water flow around 3 PM.

RAUTAHAT, Aug 3: The body of an Indian youth, who went missing while bathing in the Bagmati River, has been recovered in Rautahat district.



Rohit Kumar Singh, a 30-year-old resident of Pachaura in Khagaria, Bihar, went missing on Saturday afternoon near the suspension bridge in Nunthar, Chandrapur Municipality-1, after reportedly entering the river under the influence of alcohol. He was swept away by a sudden surge in water flow around 3 PM.

A joint search team from Nepal Army’s No. 11 Battalion Hekka and Chandranigahapur Area Police Office located the body around 15 kilometers downstream, at a canal section of the Bagmati River in Palkuwa, Gujara Municipality-7.


The body has been retrieved and taken to the government hospital in Chandranigahapur for post-mortem. According to Rautahat police, the body will be handed over to the victim’s family after the examination.
