DHARAN, May 23: After postmortems at BP Koirala Hospital in Dharan, the bodies of all victims of the horrific Miklajung murders have been handed over to relatives.
Nine members of two families aged between five to 75 were found murdered on Tuesday morning. Postmortems were carried out throughout Wednesday. According to DSP Dhundiraj Gurung of Area Police Office, Dharan, the process of handing over the bodies after postmortem has been completed. “They received the bodies and left,” he said.
Four members of the family of Bam Bahadur Fiyak and five members of the family of Dhanraj Shrema were butchered Tuesday night. Preliminary investigations by police suggested that the murders could be the work of Man Bahadur Makhim, who was found hanging from a tree a few kilometers away from the crime site.

Police found a khukuri along with some blood-soaked clothes near the area where Makhim was found hanging. He was said to be a migrant worker who had a troubled relationship with his wife. Man Kumari, the wife, had filed for divorce and had been living with her parents.
A separate three-member team from the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB) was mobilized to probe the murders.
Those killed were identified as Bam Bahadur, 75, his wife Farsimaya, 71, their youngest daughter Man Kumari, 31, and daughter-in-law Shreya.
Similarly, Dhanraj Sherma, 41, his wife Jastmita, 36, and their two daughters Yuvana and Muna and son Ichchha were also killed.
Police stated that the bodies have been given to the relatives of the deceased. The last rites will be carried out on Thursday, it is learnt.
