KATHMANDU, June 2: The blame game between the recently split two Madhes-based parties -- Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) and Madhesi People´s Right Forum-Republican (MPRF-R)--has reached a peak.

In a continuation of their altercations, MPRF on Thursday accused MPRF-R Chairman Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta of splitting the party to conceal his own past misdeeds.[break]

Gupta broke away from MPRF along with 13 lawmakers and formed his new party on May 23.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu Thursday, MPRF dismissed Gupta´s accusation against Upendra Yadav, its chairman, of ruling the party undemocratically.

MPRF also accused Gupta of involvement in various irregularities while he was minister for agriculture in the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government.

´´Gupta defected from MPRF as the party was preparing to take action against him for past misdeeds,´´ MPRF General Secretary Ramsahay Prasad Yadav said during the press meet.

Yadav said Gupta defected from the MPRF as the party declined to bow before external forces.

Speaking at the same program, MPRF Whip Abhishek Pratap Shah claimed that he was offered a huge amount of money to ally himself with Gupta. ´´I was offered five million rupees to join the party but I rejected the offer,´´ Shah claimed.

Shah claimed that Gupta decided to split the party to please international forces that have long been insisting that he do so.

MPRF Chairman Yadav was absent from the press meet.

Prior to this, MPRF-R´s ad-hoc central committee had concluded that the party was compelled to part ways with MPRF due to Chairman Upendra Yadav´s unpleasant doings within the party. The party further alleged that MPRF was championing the agenda of the Maoists.

Issuing a statement Tuesday regarding their decision to part ways, MPRF-R had accused Chairman Yadav of suppressing dissenting voices within the party and said they had united against that tendency.
