BIZ BRIEFS: Urban Design annouces festive sale

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Urban Design -- the store of furniture and other accessories -- at Naxal has introduced the festive sale from Monday, offering up to 50 percent on furniture and 10 percent discount on all accessories.



Furniture items at Urban Design are manufactured locally, while accessories are imported from countries like India, China and Thailand, among others, the company said in a press statement on Monday.[break]



Furniture items at Urban Design are available in the range of Rs 12,000 to Rs 115,000 while accessories are priced between Rs 300 and Rs 12,000. The offer will valid till November-end.



Samsara, Siddhartha Bank sign remittance pact



KATHMANDU: Samsara Money Transfer and Siddhartha Development Bank have reached an agreement, under which money remitted from aboard can be made available to various clients in Nepal through the bank´s existing network. The memorandum of understanding in this regard was signed by Jeewan Babu Shrestha, executive vice chairman of Samsara Money Transfer and Sujit Pokharel, acting CEO of Siddhartha Development Bank. The development bank currency has 18 branch offices in the country. Samsara, on the other hand, has an extensive network of more than 1,400 agents covering every district in Nepal. Samsara was established in June 2006 and has a paid-up capital of Rs 50 million. Samsara is the super agent of Moneygram, Xpress Money Services, Instant Cash, Al Ghurair, Al Zaman Exchange and Multinet Exchange.



IME road show receives ´overwhelming response´

KATHMANDU: The marketing campaign of International Money Express (IME), ´IME Haasya Yatra...Byroad ko Batoma´ -- a road show comprising comedy acts and concerts, has been garnering overwhelming response and support from local audience, according to an IME statement. The 20-day road trip to western Nepal, organized in association with Global IME Bank, was organized by the remittance company to promote Indo-Nepal remittance service.



 Led by IME brand ambassadors and comedians Deepak Raj Giri and Deepa Shree Niraula, the team, which comprises various other artistes, embarked on its journey on September 26 and held its first show at Lions Chowk in Narayanghat. This was followed by shows in Butwal, Liwang and Pyuthan. "At each location, musical performances were followed by information sharing and awareness programs about the safer, swifter and most reliable way of remitting money from India to Nepal through formal banking channel set up by IME and Global IME Bank in partnership with India´s United Bank of India," the statement says.



Colin´s, Rodi Mood announce discount offer

KATHMANDU: Richarm -- a company dealing with Turkish branded apparel -- at City Center has announced a discount offer for the upcoming Dashain and Tihar festivals. Issuing a press statement issued on Monday, the company said it is providing 20 to 40 percent discount on Colin´s and Rodi Mood apparels. “We have decided to provide discount on both the brands so that customers can get the Turkish casual wears at affordable price,” Akhil Chapagain, executive director of Richarm, said in the statement. The store has dresses for men, women and children.



Bajajtantra weekly winners announced

KATHMANDU: Hansraj Hulaschand and Company -- the authorized distributor of Bajaj motorbikes in Nepal -- has announced winners for Week 1 of its ´Bajajtantra´ campaign launched on the occasion of Dashain and Tihar.



Issuing a press statement, the company said Narayani Enterprises, Birgunj won Rs 500,000, Yubaraj Gurung from Kawasoti won Samsung 40 inch LED TV, Manoj Kumar Yadav from Dhanusha won 20 grams gold, Jagnath Pokhrel of Kawasoti won free foreign trip, Umesh Chaudhary from Bhairahawa won Dell laptop, Sanjay Kumar Tharu from Saljhadi won Samsung refrigerator and Budheswor Mahara from Siraha won a Nokia smartphone.



Chiranjivi Shah, deputy managing director of Hansraj Hulaschand and Company, announced the lucky winners through a live lucky draw, according to the statement.



MAW organizes roady safety program

KATHMANDU: MAW Enterprises, the sole distributor of Yamaha bikes in Nepal, conducted a traffic awareness program --Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS) -- at Kings College, Babarmahal on Monday. More than 60 students, principal of the college and Suraj Manandhar, business head of Yamaha, participated in the event. A press statement issued by MAW said the main objective of the day-long program was to create awareness among bikers about road accidents and measures to be adopted to avoid fatalities. MAW is planning to organise similar workshops in the other parts of the country. Yamaha has already conducted such programs in Whitehouse College, GATE College, Nepal Engineering College, Quest College, Nobel College and Nepal College of Management, among others.
