The office had filed the cases at district administrative offices in Morang and Sunsari after tests of samples collected from the market failed to meet its standard.
“The biscuits that we tested were coated with inedible substances,” Upendra Raya, chief of Food Technology and Quality Control Office, said, without revealing the name of the companies that had produced substandard biscuits.
The office also said 90 other industries located in 16 districts of eastern Nepal were found guilty of producing substandard sweets, ghee, tea, milk, vegetable ghee, spices, bottled water, sunflower oil and mustard oil, among others.
ShuvaLaxmi to distribute 5.75% cash dividend
