According to the Livestock Disease Research Centre, Chitwan, the bird-flu was found in layers chickens in Milan Poultry Farm belonging to Pratap Thapa of Bharatpur-8. Veterinary doctor Bodhnath Adhikary said that the bird-flu was confirmed in layers chickens.[break]
Chickens were sent to the Sample Collection Centre for test after chickens started to die all of a sudden for the past 10 days.A total of 2,200 chickens were culled Tuesday night after the confirmation of bird-flu.
A technical team destroyed the remaining 2,200 chickens, 110 crates of eggs and a sack of poultry feed, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.Out of the 4,000 chickens at the farm, some 1,800 chickens died due to the disease.
