BIRATNAGAR, Oct 5: Security personnel have chased away the demonstrators staging blockade at the Biratnagar Custom Office on Sunday night.

They fired two rounds of shots into the air and cleared away the shelters of the protestors.

Despite the agreement between government officials of both Nepal and India to resume checkpoints, the export-import activities had been completely halted due to the blockade staged by Madhesi agitators and Indian drivers.

The security personnel thrashed the demonstrators while they were sleeping at the tents near the border checkpoints, said Rajkumar Yadav, chairman of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Morang district.

According to Biratnagar Custom Office, the cargo vehicles have been entering into Nepal through the Jogbani checkpoint.

As many as 40 cargo vehicles have arrived at the courtyard of Biratnagar Custom Office, of which four vehicles are petrol-loaded tankers.
