KATHMANDU, Sept 10: A day after the fourth largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) decided to boycott the constitution making process, three major political parties -- Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist) -- have urged the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) not to boycott the statute making process.

Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal urged RPP-N Chairman Kamal Thapa to participate in the constitution making process during a meeting at the prime minister's official residence in Baluwatar. This is the first time major three parties have held meeting with the fourth largest party in the CA after the CA first convened on January 22. "We have taken this as very positive initiative by the three major political parties," said RPP-N Deputy Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha.

During the meeting, Thapa had vented ire against the top leaders of three major parties for restricting his party all the time. Thapa had asked them to send a formal letter so that he would hold discussion in the party whether to join the CA process.

"In view of the complex situation and the movement in Tarai, our meeting is likely to take a decision to join CA procedures," said Shrestha.
