“Bigmart is known for quality foods and grocery products. The new outlet at Jhamsikhel will have a separate section for meat products from where consumers can buy fresh mutton, chicken and ham,” said Antim Ranjit, marketing and branding manager at Mega Mart.[break]
According to Ranjit, the outlet will help the company further penetrate the local retail market. The new outlet will feature food and grocery items, green vegetables and instant foods, among others, and give equal priority to domestic and imported products.
“Customers can buy fresh fruits and vegetables from the new store because both the items will be changed twice a day,” added Ranjit. The store will also offer a wide range of liquors besides non-alcoholic beverages and ready-to-eat foods like bakery products and canned foods. “The bakery items will include products imported from countries such as Japan, Italy and Germany, among others,” said Ranjit.
“We decided to expand our services because of encouraging response we have been receiving from our customers,” said Ranjit. The new store is likely to create job opportunity for more than 20 people. “The Bigmart outlet at Jhamsikhel will also have an ATM lounge and thelas serving various foods,” said Ranjit.
Mega Mart officials said the company plans to open three more stores at different locations in the capital within 2012. The Shantinagar store will come into operation before Tihar. Mega Mart also plans to open Bigmart outlets outside the capital by 2013.
