Bhutanese refugee found dead in US

DAMAK, Sept. 18: A Bhutanese refugee resettled in Buffalo City of New York, USA, was found dead. Thirty-five-year-old Nirmala Gurung had left Bhutanese camp in Beldangi, Jhapa, for New York in June.



According to Prakash Dhamala, a Nepali journalist based in the US, she committed suicide hanging herself at her apartment when her spouse had gone outside. [break]



Meanwhile, several organisations looking after Bhutanese refugee camps have expressed their commitment to provide relief to refugees. Such a commitment came after complaints from various sectors regarding the quality of relief assistance provided to refugees in the camps.



Similarly, Bhutanese political parties and social organisations have expressed concern over the move of the government to forward the process of murder case withdrawal of the then chairman of Bhutanese People´s Party RK Budhathoki.



The first president of Bhutan People´s Party (BPP), Budhatoki was hacked to death in Damak, Jhapa in 2001.
