CHITWAN, June 25: Bharatpur Metropolitan City is going to complete the construction of Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium in partnership and cooperation with the federal and provincial governments.

An arrangement to this effect has been made, as per the budget for the next fiscal year 2023/24 presented by Bharatpur’s Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari. The metropolis has allocated Rs 30 million for the construction of the stadium in the upcoming year.

The construction of this stadium, which was initiated by comedian duo Sitaram Kattel aka ‘Dhurmus’ and Kunjana Ghimire aka ‘Suntali’, has been stalled due to financial problems. After Dhurmus and Suntali withdrew their hands from the construction of the stadium, they came under scrutiny many times due to the issue of expenses and outstanding debts. Currently, the metropolis is in charge of the stadium.

Bharatpur metropolis has announced a total budget of Rs 6.31 billion for the fiscal year 2023/24.
