Bhairahawa beat Baitadi by three wickets in the first match of the day while Biratnagar thrashed Nepalgunj by eight wickets in another match. Both Biratnagar and Bhairahawa have collected six points each after playing four matches to stay in the second place jointly.
Electing to bat first, Baitadi made 76 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs match. In reply, Bhairahawa that got extra 20 runs and made 79 runs losing seven wickets in 17.5 overs.
In the low-scoring match, none of the players other than opener Prem Chaudhary and Pradeep Ayree of Baitadi could reach double figure. Opener batsman Chaudhary hit 13 off 31 balls before he was caught by Faizal Khan off Rahul Kumar BK of Bhairahawa. Likewise, Pradeep Ayree struck 20 runs off 18 deliveries before he was bowled out by Bhairahawa skipper Shakti Gauchan. Kuldeep Khadka and Prem Budal were out for a duck while Dilli Raj Joshi remained unbeaten with no runs.
The man-of-the-match Gauchan of Bhairhawa claimed three wickets in his four overs spell conceding seven runs with one maiden overs while Rahul Kumar BK registered two wickets in his name and Lal bahadur Adhikari and Basanta Regmi had one each.
For Bhairahawa U-17 hero opener batsmen Sagar Pun played patiently a 33-run knock off 50 deliveries with a four and six each. Pun was stumped by wicket keeper Binod Bhattarai for the seventh wicket while the team was near win (75 runs). None of the other batsmen could reach double figure for Bhairahawa.
Three batsmen, including skipper Gauchan, Antim Thapa and Rahul Kumar BK were out for a duck. Chandra Saud of Baitadi dismissed three batsmen while Dhirendra Chand claimed two wickets and Prem Budal and Bhuwan Karki had one scalps each.
In another match, batting first after winning the toss, Nepalgunj piled up 75 runs losing all the wickets in 19.1 overs. Following the run chase, Biratnagar easily made 79 runs losing two wickets with six overs remaining.
The man-of-the-match Ajay Rajbanshi (27) of Biratnagar and Puspa Thapa (36) remaining unbeaten played a 68 runs partnership for the third wickets to lead the team towards the victory. Opener batsman Mehboob Alam (10) was caught and bowled by Nasir Ansair and another opener Sunney Pun was too bowled by Ansari for duck.
Earlier, for Nepalgunj, Tajuddin Halwai and Subendu Pandey were the only batsmen to reach double figure. Halwai scored 23 runs facing 46 balls and Subendu Pandey hit 17 off 17 deliveries.
Mehboob Alam, Ajay Rajbanshi, Raj Kumar Pradhan and Kundan Singh claimed two wickets each while Manjeet Shrestha took one wicket for Biratnagar.
