BAITADI, Feb 8: Bhagarathi Bhatta, 17, of Chadepani of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7, was raped and then choked to death on Wednesday, according to reports.
The postmortem conducted at the District Hospital of Baitadi indicated that the victim was raped and then choked to death. However, the postmortem report has not been unveiled yet.
The victim’s lower body was naked, there were blood stains on her genitals and wounds on her hand and neck, according to police officials involved in the investigation.

The police personnel have collected the vaginal swab of the victim and further testing is underway.
Those involved in the incident are still at large.
The preliminary investigation of the police have found that Bhatta was taken to Tawalek Community Jungle and murdered after rape while she was returning home from school at around 2 PM on Wednesday.
Bhatta’s dead body was recovered some 50 meters below the road, inside the community forest on Thursday.
Teams of Nepal Police have been deployed to investigate the case. Trained sniffer dogs were mobilized in the area and the Police recovered a mobile phone, which will be a key in the investigation of the case.
Protests have erupted across the country calling for justice to Bhatta. Political parties and leaders have urged the government to book those guilty of raping and murdering Bhatta.
Likewise, the family of the victim has decided not to receive the body unless the people behind the incident are apprehended.
