MYAGDI, Mar 4: Beni Municipality has made an extra effort to educate people about integrated tax system and to collect taxes.

The tax and revenue department of the municipality launched a door-to-door campaign to tell people about integrated tax system and collected taxes.

According to Prakash Subedi, chief of the department, the door-to-door visit by the municipality itself spared the people from making a trip to the office to pay the taxes.

"This will encourage people to pay taxes on time. And similarly, we have been educating people about integrated tax system," he said.

Subedi informed that Rs 589,375 was collected from all the ten wards of the municipality. The mobile team had collected this amount from a total of 1,363 people.

Some taxpayers had come to the mobile teams with original and photocopies of their citizenship and house owner certificates as well as the receipts of the earlier paid taxes.

They were happy about the service but many also expressed dissatisfaction over 'the municipality's eagerness to collect taxes and the lack service delivery'.

The office collected maximum tax amount of Rs 118,445 from ward number 8 of the municipality while the lowest amount of Rs 6,350
was collected from ward number 9.

Many locals expressed dissatisfaction over 'the municipality's eagerness to collect taxes and the lack service delivery'.
