BARDIYA, July 29: The Bardiya National Park (BNP) is becoming the appropriate habitat for tigers in the recent times.
At a program organized on the Seventh International Tiger Day here today, it was informed that number of tigers was increased in the park due to salubrious habitat and effective campaign on poaching control.
On the occasion, Chief District Officer, Bishnu Thapa, said there were 85 tigers in the BNP currently. The BNP has a target to increase the number of tigers to 250 by 2022 as per the commitment Nepal government has made before international community.
The park was able to observe zero poaching of tiger for the past seven years, said Conservation Chief, Ramesh Thapa. RSS
