KATHMANDU, March 30: Rajendra Mahato from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) will stand in the by-elections to be held on April 23 from Bara-2.
The LSP Central Executive Committee meeting held in Kathmandu on Thursday unanimously decided to pick Mahato as candidate in the by-election to be held in Bara -2.

“The meeting of our party’s executive committee held today has decided to make leader Mahato a candidate for Bara-2," one of the leaders, who participated in the meeting, said. "After Upendraji decided to contest the election from Bara, there was widespread dissatisfaction among people. The party has decided to field the candidacy of Mahato ji at the request of local people.”
Mahato is likely to reach Bara on Friday for the preparations of the election. He was defeated by Maoist candidate Mahindra Rai Yadav in Salarhi-2 on November 20 parliamentary elections.
Shivchandra Kushwaha is going to be the candidate from Janamat Party led by CK Raut in Bara-2. After rising from the Maoist center in the election of November 20, he was defeated by JSP’s Ramsahay Prasad Yadav by a narrow margin of 354 votes.
Yadav, who was elected from Bara 2, won the vice presidential election held on March 17, the House of Representatives seat of Bara 2 is now vacant.
