Lawyers stage protest at Supreme Court demanding Chief Justice...
Three writ petitions have been filed against them after the Supreme Court justices did not look into the case. The court administration has stated that the applications will be registered on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Nepal Bar Association has decided to launch a nationwide agitation if Chief Justice Rana does not resign. A meeting of the working committee chaired by Bar Chairman Chandeshwor Shrestha on Friday published a list of various programs that include working with black ribbons on their hands as suggested by the Nepal Bar Association, Kathmandu Valley unit. The Bar has demanded the resignation of the chief justice as he has not been able to prevent distortion, inconsistency and corruption and maintain the cleanliness and dignity of the judiciary.
A statement issued after the meeting said, "We will hold a protest program from 10 AM to 11 AM every day from October 31 to November 3 and request the lawyers of the Valley Bar Unit to actively participate in the program." The meeting has also decided to collect suggestions through virtual discussions with the chairpersons and secretaries of the bars across the country. "If the chief justice does not resign during the time period, we will announce more protest programs," said Leela Mani Poudel, the bar's secretary general.
