KATHMANDU, March 17: The chairman of Nepal Bar Association, Hari Krishna Karki on Sunday said they would continue their protest unless Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi, who is now also the chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, steps down as the head of judiciary.

Speaking at a program organized by the local Rafta Sanchar Club in Bhaktapur on Sunday, Karki also said the NBA’s future protest will be aimed at maintaining the independence of judiciary, but not getting in the way of new Constituent Assembly elections. [break]

He also made it clear that NBA, the umbrella organization of lawyers across the country, is not against new elections but said the elections cannot take place just because the four political parties want them. He stressed that all political parties should be taken into confidence to go to new elections.
