Bangladeshi Ex-PM Khaleda "ineligible" for elections as court bars convicted people from polls

KATHMANDU, Nov 27: A High Court division bench in Bangladesh on Tuesday ordered that nobody can compete in polls if he or she is imprisoned for more than two years, media reports said.

It means that Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has become "ineligible" for general elections slated for Dec. 30,  Xinhua News Agency reported referring to the officials.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told reporters shortly after the court ruling that Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has become "ineligible" for general elections.
