KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Bamdev Gautam, who joined CPN (Unified Socialist) the party from the National Unity Campaign, has become the third-ranking leader of the Unified Socialist.
Party’s Vice Chairman and head of the Publicity Department informed Republica that Friday’s meeting of the party’s 7th central secretariat decided to nominate Gautam to the position.

Senior Leader Gautam also took the oath of office and secrecy administered by Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Jwala added that the meeting also appointed 12 leaders as Central Committee and Politburo members. DB Karki, Tulsi Thapa and Loknath Dhamala have been appointed as Politburo members.
Bhagwati Bista from Pyuthan, Durga Datta Bhandari from Nawalpur, Radhe Shyam Gupta from Rupandehi, Iman Singh Bhandari from Pyuthan, Rabindra Bam from Bajhang, Tofa Yadav from Bardiya, Bidya Prasad Sharma from Dailekh, Ram Prasad Adhikari from Chitwan and Mohammad Sher Bagwan from Banke have been appointed as Central Committee members.
The Unified Socialist’s secretariat meeting is still underway.
The unification between Gautam-led National Unity Campaign and Nepal-led Unified Socialist took place on July 11.
