Sarita Magar´s all-round performance helped Baluwatar defeat the red team of host Greenland Children Academy (GCA) by seven wickets in the final played at the Sainik School Ground, Bhaktapur.[break]
GCA, electing to bat first, put up 75 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Neema Tamang scored an unbeaten 26 runs off 55 balls for GCA. Geeta Chudal scored five runs and Purnima Ghimire added four runs for the team.
Magar took two wickets in two overs keeping both of them wicket-maiden overs, while Neera Rajopadhyay and Arati Bidari took a wicket each.
Magar again stood out for Baluwatar scoring an unbeaten 29 runs off 28 balls. Baluwatar reached 79/3 in 12.2 overs losing three wickets as Karuna Bhandari supported Magar with an unbeaten 20 runs. Aarati Bidari scored six runs for Baluwatar. Geeta Chudal and Karuna Lama claimed a wicket each for GCA.
Magar was adjudged the player-of-the-match while Rajopadhyay received the award for the best batswoman of the tournament. Rajopadhyay scored a total of 69 runs in three league round matches. GCA´s bowler Chudal, who took five wickets in three group stage matches bowling 11.4 overs and giving away altogether 30 runs, bagged the best bowler award.
GCA´s batswoman Tamang who scored 74 runs and took six wickets during the tournament was adjudged the player-of-the-series.
Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma, former vice-president of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and President of Baluwatar Cricket Academy Upendra Prasad Bhattarai, and GCA Principal Sunil Pradhan gave away the prizes to the winners.
