KATHMANDU, April 2: HH Bajaj has introduced a new commuter bike - Bajaj Discover 100 T (Tourer) - in the Nepali market. According to the company, Discover 100 T is the world´s first 100cc bike with a four-valve DTS-i engine.

“It can be said that Bajaj Discover 100 T is the best 100cc bike as it provides good mileage and has better performance compared with the other 100cc bikes,” he added.

The bike is powered by Bajaj´s patented 4-valve DTSi technology. It uses four-stroke 102 cc single cylinder air-cooled engine that delivers a maximum power of 10.2 Ps at 9000 rpm which the company claims is 30 percent more than the other motorcycles in the 100 cc segment.

Chiranjibi Shah, deputy general manager at HH Bajaj, said the bike is very smooth to ride with a top speed of 100 km per hour. “The bike has auto choke which makes it easier to start the bike in all weather conditions. It sports gas-filled nitrox suspension making it perfect even for the rough and tough roads, and DC headlamp which provides constant illumination even at low speed,” said Shah.

The bike is perfect in terms of style with chiseled muscular tank, sharp edged headlamp, 10-spoke new design alloy wheels, premium aluminum side sets and contrasting two tone graphics, the company said in a statement.

The Discover 100 T has 130 mm drum brake on the front wheel and 110 mm on the rear wheel. The bike comes with both electric as well as kick start.

“The semi double cradle chassis in the bike ensures safety and comfort while riding. The bike comes with telescopic fork front suspension with anti-friction bush and nitrox twin shocks with gas canister rear suspension,” the statement.

The company has claimed that the bike provides mileage of 87.3 km per liter.

“Discover bikes have been doing very well in Nepal. We have already sold more than 50,000 units,” Shah said, adding, “With the launch of this new bike we hope to increase our sales volume as well as market share.”

The bike is available in four different colors -- Flame Red, Brilliant Blue, Black Red and Black Blue - and costs Rs 155,900.
