Organizing a press conference in the capital, the UNPMC said it will hold mass meetings, organize protest rallies and conduct march pass in various places across the country from April 20 to May 14 to press for their cause. [break]
As per the schedule, it will hold mass meetings in Dhulikhel on April 20, in Gaighat on April 22, in Pokhara on April 24, in Kathmandu on April 26 and in Jhapa on April 28.
Likewise, it will organize similar meetings in Janakpur on April 29, in Nepalgunj on May 1, in Dhangadi on May 2, in Butwal on May 3 before parading their cadres in the capital on May 4.
The committee has planned a nationwide signature collection campaign for May 8-12 to press for their cause before taking out protest rallies on May 14.
CP Gajurel, a Maoist hard-line leader and co-coordinator of the committee, said they had to come up with their protest program as the country has not so far been able to adopt change as per people’s aspirations.
UNPMC, besides the Maoist Mohan Baidya faction, comprises various political parties including Nepal Communist Party (Unified), CPN (Maoist), Tamsaling Nepal Rastriya Dal, Nepal Nagarik Parties and organizations including Tharu Mukti Sangram and Federation of All Nepal Indigenous Nationalities, among others.
Dissatisfied with the party establishment´s decision to end their control of cantonments, combatants and weapons, the Mohan Baidya faction had also organized chakkajam in the morning and torch rallies in the evening on Wednesday.
