KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya is set to seek a vote of confidence on Monday.
Baniya will seek the vote during a Provincial Assembly meeting scheduled for 1pm.

He is required to seek the vote after the CPN UML withdrew its support for the government on August 6. Following the withdrawal, the Nepali Congress-led government was reduced to a minority.
The Bagmati Provincial Assembly has 110 seats, of which 104 are currently filled. Baniya needs the support of at least 53 lawmakers to keep his government in office.
The Nepali Congress is the largest party in the assembly with 36 seats. The CPN has 26 seats, while the CPN UML has 25 seats, including the deputy speaker.
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party has 12 seats, the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party has three, and the Hamro Nepali Party has two seats.
A majority of 53 provincial lawmakers is required to form a new government in Bagmati Province.
