CHITWAN, Jan 7: The bad weather has crippled the normal life in Tarai region. The dense fog has and the mercury dipping has forced the people to stay indoors and to keep warm themselves.
The trade and business have come to stand still.
Bad weather cancels 61 flights
The biting cold weather has hit the regular flights as well in the region. Due to the low visibility, the flights to and from Bharatpur have canceled on Saturday and Sunday morning.
CPN (Maoist Center) chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal could not take the flight to return Kathmandu on Saturday. As the weather did not get better on Sunday morning as well, Dahal left the district for Kathmandu at 9 am by road, MC district in charge Ishwari Bhattarai informed. Dahal had arrived on Thursday.
Due to his absence in Kathmandu, the party unification coordination committee meeting has been postponed for Sunday.
Meanwhile, the airport official at Bharatpur airport informed that few flights might take place to and from the airport as the weather is likely to be clearing. Due to the bad weather 14 flights, including 2 flights to and from Pokhara, were canceled on Saturday.
