AWC demands legal action against those who assaulted Senior Advocate Tripathi

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: The Accountability Watch Committee (AWC) has demanded legal action against those involved in the assault on Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi.


The AWC has condemned the incident of assaulting Tripathi, a senior advocate and member of the AWC, on the Kathmandu District Court premises because he presented arguments representing the victims of the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud case.

The AWC has called upon all concerned bodies to adopt a zero-tolerance against such incidents, stating that this incident is not only targeted at a legal professional but is also an incident against the rule of law, human rights, and an independent judiciary.


The AWC has requested the Government of Nepal to take immediate legal action against all those involved in the criminal act against Senior Advocate Tripathi and to ensure an environment where any lawyer can confidently represent his side of the case.
