RAMPUR, Nov 25: The number of girl students attending classes regularly has increased in schools in Rampur and Gandakot villages of Palpa with the availability of sanitary pads in their schools.

Girl students were not regular and some used to quit classes in the mid during their menstrual period due to hesitation in the absence of sanitary pads. The availability of sanitary pads in the school has encouraged them attend the classes regularly.

Some girl students left the class in middle in case of having the menstrual discharge in the classroom and now the availability of sanitary pads in schools has freed them from such discomfort, Village Child Development Committee, Rampur coordinator Lekhnath Sharma Marasini said.

Now around 60 secondary and lower secondary schools in Rampur and Gandakot provide sanitary pads to girl students in need. Every school has assigned a female teacher to distribute the pads.

Binita Shrestha, teacher at Ramtulsi Higher Secondary School is one of those teachers supporting girl students during their menstrual period by doing such work.

In the beginning, they (girl students) felt hesitation to ask for sanitary pads, but now there is no such situation, she said. Schools in these villages have claimed that the number of regular girl students has soared with the management of sanitary pads in schools. RSS
