KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The Special Court has sentenced Raj Narayan Pathak, the former commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), and a college administrator Lambodar Neupane, who bribed Pathak, to three years in jail and Rs 3.9 million in fine.

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The Special Court has convicted the then Deputy Secretary Anand Keshari Pokharel, Deputy Superintendent of Police Navraj Thapa, Police Inspector Murari Mishra and sentenced them to imprisonment and fines in the case of revenue leakage and alteration of driver's license results.

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana retired on Tuesday due to the age limit of 65 years, nine months after he was suspended from the post. The impeachment motion against him could neither be endorsed by parliament nor could he get a clean chit.

KATHMANDU, August 4: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) registered a corruption case against six people including the then secretary of Madhesh Province at the Special Court in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The CIAA has accused them of carrying out financial irregularities worth Rs 103.3 million in the name of the Beti Padhau, Beti Bachau (Educate Daughters, Save Daughters) campaign.

KATHMANDU, July 8: Several old cases are pending at the Supreme court (SC) - some for the past two decades - due to the ‘lack of time’ to hear these cases. One such case in point is the case involving former executive general manager of Nepal Oil Corporation, Yuvraj Sharma. After a series of hearings on the corruption case filed against Sharma, the SC ruled to announce the final verdict on the case. It’s already been two years since that SC decision, but the final verdict on the case hasn’t been announced. The SC ruled two years ago that Sharma had embezzled Rs 5.4 million, but the final verdict on the case is yet to be made.

KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Rameshwor Bhattarai, who was convicted of fraud and sentenced to two years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 250,000 by the Supreme Court on August 8, 2016 but was on the run, is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Ban Nigam Ltd, a state-owned company.
