DHADING, Oct 21: An Austrian national Wehinger Wihel, 67, breathed his last in Somdang village of Ruby Valley Rural Municipality of Dhading on Saturday evening.
Wihel with passport number P6168185 was on a trek in the village when he suddenly collapsed following bleeding from his nose. According to the District Police Office, Dhading, the dead body has been air lifted to TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
"He was with two other friends while on the trek. They were going to some tourist site in Gorkha," said DSP Raj Kumar Baidabar. "It has been learnt that they ate and drank at an eatery at Somdang. He then collapsed after some time," added the police officer.
The three were going to Manaslu of Gorkha from Ruby Valley of Dhading. The police rushed to the spot on a helicopter after they were informed that an Austrian national had died. DSP Baidibar assumes that Wihel might have been affected by cold. "The temperature had dipped, that might have affected his health," he said.
The group had left Kathmandu for Nuwakot first. Then they went to Rasuwa and then reached Somdang. Kathmandu based company High Country Tracking Private Limited had facilitated the trek.
The death spot is located 10 hours of walk distance from the police post at Sertung.
