Australia provides Alumni Excellence Awards

KATHMANDU, June 24: Six Australia Awards alumni were presented with Alumni Excellence Awards at an event held at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Durbar Marg on Friday, June 24. 




The Australian Alumni Excellence Award Ceremony was organized by the Australian Embassy in Nepal in collaboration with the Australian Government Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and Department of Education and Training based in New Delhi, India. The awards ceremony was held to celebrate the achievements of talented Nepali students who have studied in Australia.

Glenn White, Australian ambassador to Nepal, presented the Alumni Excellence Awards in five different categories to the six alumni. Bishnu Raj Adhikari was presented with the Australian Alumni Award for Business Leadership 2016. 




The Outstanding Young Australian Alumni Award 2016 went to Dr Neelam Pradhananga while the Australian Alumni Award for Community Service 2016 was presented to Prof Dr Kushum Shakya. 




Kabiraj Khanal and Nibha Shrestha were chosen for the Australia Awards Alumni Awards 2016. The Australia Awards – Endeavour Alumni Award 2016 went to Avishek Malla. 

The event was attended by more than 250 people including Australia Awards alumni, and representatives from the governments of Australia and Nepal. 




Ambassador White said, “The Australian Government provides Australia Awards Scholarships, Fellowships and Short Course Awards to build the skills and knowledge of individuals so that they can contribute to Nepal’s development. Another key aspect is to support the ongoing strengthening of links between our two countries.” 




As stated in press release, the Australian Government has supported more than 600 Nepalis to build their skills and knowledge through an Australian education experience.
