Assailants attack journos

CHITWAN, Feb 12: Two assailants attacked a group of journalists here at Pulchowk in Narayanghat on Wednesday evening. The journalists had arrived here from Kathmandu to cover the 8th anniversary of Maoists’ People’s Liberation Army, at Hattikhor in neighboring Nawalparasi district.



The group of 42 journalists, who were on the way to Nawalparasi, were staying at Kailash and Annapurna hotels at Pulchowk.



Bimal Gautam, correspondent of Chinese news agency Xinhua, sustained injuries when two persons wielding khukuris attacked them, the journalists said. The assailants also threatened of breaking the media persons’ camera and other equipment.



Police arrested Rajiv Rai in connection with the incident while another attacker is at large.



A police team has been mobilized for the journalists’ security following the incident.
