Rautahat, April 7: The district court has issued an arrest warrant against Premlal Shah Kanu, the mayor of Dewahhi Gonahi Municipality in Rautahat district.

After the arrest of a fake examinee who was taking the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) instead of Mayor Kanu on Thursday, the district court also issued an arrest warrant against Mayor Kanu on Friday.

"During the investigation, the name of Premlal Sah Kanu came up, so an arrest warrant has been issued by the district court as he has to be investigated;" Superintendent of Police of District Police Office, Rautahat, Bir Bahadur Budhamagar said, "Now he is seen as a probationer rather than a mayor, so we are conducting the investigation."

One Kamal Sah of Garuda Municipality-6 was arrested on the charge of sitting for SEE instead of Mayor Kanu.

According to the police, it has been revealed that the Mayor, who is a regular examinee in the SEE being conducted at Lakshminiya Secondary School  of Maulapur Municipality, had asked Sah to take the exam in his place.

The arrested Sah is a permanent employee working at the fifth level in the Bardibas branch of Radio Nepal. During the police investigation, Sah admitted that it was Mayor Premlal Sah who had asked him to take the exam in his place.

Sah was arrested when the monitoring team was suspicious of the student while the examination was being conducted. According to police sources, the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
