SEE grade-sheets by Mid-July

June 12, 2020 18:15 pm

KATHMANDU, June 12:  The National Examination Board (NEB) has been making necessary preparations to provide the grade-sheet of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) by Mid-July (Asar).

KATHMANDU, June 11: Putting an end to the prolonged uncertainty about holding the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) of Grade X, the government on Wednesday decided not to conduct this board examination in view of the serious health risk that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to pose risk across the country. A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday made a decision to this effect.

COVID-19 has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). The first outbreak was reported in December 2019. It has now affected more than 4.8 million people worldwide and the cases are increasing in Nepal, almost 400 cases have already been detected. The cases are increasing and we know it, yet the Ministry of Education is adamant about not cancelling the SEE. The education minister has been saying that the exams will be held two or three weeks after the lockdown. SEE/ SLC is a board exam that has been held since 1990 B.S. But is it necessary for all students to take this exam to complete grade 10 and to graduate to higher secondary or intermediate level education (12th grade)?

As a tenth grader who is supposed to take the SEE exam but cannot due to the coronavirus pandemic, a thought is always circling in my mind: Will the exams be canceled? When will the exams start? Almost half a million students across the country are thinking the same. This is one of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in Nepal.

The pressure to excel

November 15, 2019 08:07 am

Usually when I watch K-dramas, I’m expecting a rom-com fluff with some problematic but mostly cute elements. But when one of my friends told me about a drama called Skycastle (which received one of the highest ratings for any K-drama ever) that was not your generic rom-com but something much deeper, I was intrigued. Skycastle is a show about an elite society of doctors (all male) and their families whose only concern is to make sure their children follow in their footsteps and become doctors (sound familiar?) by getting them into the prestigious Seoul National University.

In a conversation with MyCity’s Rahat Poudel, Shrestha shared his love towards taking the adventures. Here are the results:

ROLPA, Aug 23: Of 3,531 examinees from Rolpa in the last academic year, 2,198 are appearing for SEE grade improvement examination that started on Sunday this week.

When it comes to government school, most of us carry the mindset of flawed results; let it be on internal examinations or the board examinations. Carrying a defense thought, not every those schools have “not exemplary” result. For example: Bagiswori Secondary School.
