In the final of boy´s category, Army School came from a goal deficit to beat Pathfinder School of Kathmandu 4-2 in the final. [break] Sudhakar Neupane had put Pathfinder ahead in the 23rd minute but Mandip Rokka who achieved target twice hit the equalizer in the 40th minute and made it 2-1 in the 56th minute.
Khadga Bahadur Salami Magar widened the gap in the 63rd minute with the third goal and Avishek Lopchan netted another in the last minute of the 70 minute match for the army team. Sumit Rana Magar netted second goal for the Pathfinder in the first minute of the stoppage time but it was too late.
"I am very happy for achieving the hat-trick of titles," Army School coach Raju Lama said after the match, "The victory is the reward of hard effort of the team." Lama has been looking after the team since last two years.
Aiman Tamang and Khadga Bahaur Salamai of Army School won the best defender and midfielder awards while Subash Kumar Raut of Pathfinder was adjudged best goalkeeper. Similarly Sanjiv Rana Magar of Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Kaski was declared the best forward.
In the girl´s section, Deep Jyoti of Banke avenged the defeat suffered in last edition at the hands of JP School of Kathmandu with 2-0 victory in the final. Deep Jyoti was sent crashing home by defending champion JP School from semifinal of previous edition.
In the final on Monday, Bhadrakala Ghale emerged hero scoring both the goals for the Deep Jyoti, which turned out to be first team to claim title from the Mid-western Region. The 15 year old left winger opened scoring in the 12th minute and ensured victory with second goal five minute.
Deep Jyoti´s coach Yubaraj Shahi, 22, commented that his sides´ victory was the result of hard work. "We have given continuity to the training since competing in the last edition," Shahi said, "Thus the title came as reward for our hard work."
Skipper Babita Dhungana, 14, a tenth grader said that the team was happy for avenging the defeat suffered last year and clinching the title. "Everyone´s motivation including that of principal, teachers and parents helped us to win the title," said Dhungana who is also the topper of her class.
Deep Jyoti also took home two best players award. Mina Baral was declared the best defender and Laxmi Sharma best midfielder. Similarly Usha Thakuri of JP won the best goalkeeper award and Nirmala Chaudhary of Tops Higher Secondary School, Kaski, was declared the best forward.
Him Shikhar Boarding School of Sunsari and Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya of Pokhara secured third and fourth positions in boy´s category while Tops Higher Secondary School of Kaski and Public Higher Secondary School of Sunsari finished third and fourth in girl´s category.
Him Shikhar won fair play award in boy´s category and Deep Jyoti in the grils´
The top four teams in both boy´s and girl´s section were awarded cash prize of Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively along with trophies and certificates.
