KATHMANDU, June 21: Surendra Shrestha of Tribhuvan Army Club on Tuesday bagged gold medal in the senior men's 77 kg event of the Fifth Grand Prix Weightlifting Tournament being held at Satdobato in Lalitpur. Similarly, Bishal Bista of Kanchanpur claimed gold in the same weight category for juniors.
Surendra lifted altogether 207 kg with 90 kg in snatch and 117 kg in clean and jerk. Similarly, Bishal lifted total weight of 170 kg that included 72 kg in snatch and 98 kg in clean and jerk.
Gagan Chand of Nepal Police Club lifted 205 kg to win gold in men's 85 kg event. He lifted 90 kg in snatch and 115 kg in clean and jerk.
In 94 kg section, Dinesh Shrestha of Army lifted 252 kg, including 110 kg in snatch and 142 kg in clean and jerk, to claim the gold medal. Likewise, Sagar Bhandari stood first in junior section of the same weight category. Sagar lifted altogether 162 kg with 77 kg in snatch and 85kg in clean and jerk.
Similarly, Gagan Singh Oli of Army clinched gold medal in 105 kg event by lifting 237 kg, including 105 kg in snatch and 132 kg in clean and jerk.
In 105 kg and above section, Pukar Gurung of Army came first as he lifted altogether 250 kg that included 115 kg in snatch and 135 kg in clean and jerk. Likewise, Sandeep Gurung of Police won gold medal in junior event for the same weight category. Sandeep lifted 197 kg with 87 kg in snatch and 110 kg in clean and jerk.
In women's events, Shanti Chaudhary of Saptari came first in the 63 kg by lifting 127 kg. She lifted 55 kg in snatch and 72 kg in clean and jerk.
Manita Shrestha of Army lifted total weight of 131kg to win gold medal in 69 kg event. Manita lifted 56 kg in snatch and 75 kg in clean and jerk.
Laxmi Bam of Police won gold medal in 75 kg event lifting 128 kg, including 58 kg in snatch and 70 kg in clean and jerk.
Similarly, 12th South Asian Games bronze medalist Tara Devi Pun bagged gold in 75 kg event lifting a total weight of 150 kg. She lifted 60 kg in snatch and 90 kg in clean and jerk.
