Army man killed over extramarital affair

KATHMANDU, March 14: A 32-year-old Nepal Army (NA) corporal has allegedly beaten another NA staff to death using a belt after suspecting him of having an extramarital relationship with his wife. Police arrested the accused army man after two weeks of the incident on 12th March from Kerwani of Rupandehi District.

According to Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Hanumandhoka, the accused has been identified as Rudra Bahadur Thapa of Raipur-1 of Tanahun district, who was deputed at the Shree Naya Shreenath Battalion.


The police had initiated a search after an NA Corporal, Rohit Kumar Ojha, who had left the army barrack on the pretext of medical treatments, went missing.

Ojha, originally from Gwallek-1 of Baitadi District and was deputed at the NA’s Directorate of Artillery, Lagankhel, had left the barrack on Feb 27, the day of the incident. After the police arrested Thapa, he confessed that he had killed Ojha.
