Army helicopter dispatched to three districts to rescue disaster victims

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent helicopters of the Nepalese Army to search and rescue citizens in three districts affected by natural disasters.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Rishiram Tiwari, informed Republica that army helicopters were sent to Kavrepalanchok, Makwanpur and Sindhuli to rescue the flood, landslide and inundation victims after the rainfall receded on Saturday afternoon.

“Helicopters could not be sent to the affected areas due to adverse weather conditions,” he told Republica, “After the improvement in the weather, we have sent army helicopters to three districts.” Army helicopters also rescued people from various affected areas in Kathmandu Valley on Saturday.

According to the MoHA, more than 20,000 security personnel have been deployed to reduce the damage caused by the disaster, protect the lives of citizens and search and rescue those affected by the disaster. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the government is ready for rescue, relief and the health of the injured and the restoration of blocked roads.
