Armed outfit hands over weapons to police

ITAHARI, Sept. 1: The Janatantrik Terai-Madhes Mukti Party (Bhagat Singh group), which waged armed struggle in eastern and central Terai districts, has handed over its weapons on Saturday as per the agreement reached with Ministry of Peace.



Morcha Talks Team Coordinator Manoj Mandal aka Subas Chand Singh handed over a cache of weapons to the Nepal government in line with an understanding reached with Peace Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi on last August 4 at the Armed Police Force Baraha Babahini Division in Pakali of Sunsari.



The armed outfit that has claimed to have huge quantity of weapons has handed over arms to Sunsari Chief District Officer Laxman Kumar Thapa and chiefs of APF and Nepal Police at the District Police Office.



Mandal handed over some 66 weapons and nine ammunition rounds used in the weapons to police administration, said the police sources.
