KATHMANDU May 15: Nepali Congress MP Arzu Deuba objected to the defamation of her name in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

Taking time to speak in the House of Representatives (HoR) on Monday, she claimed that she was defamed through the fabrication of an audio clip that painted her as a collaborator in the scam.

Deuba said though she submitted a complaint to the Central Investigation Bureau and the Cyber Crime Bureau of Nepal Police six days prior to the forensic investigation of the said audio clip, she did not receive a response.

She said, “The fake audio is not only mine, it involves others as well, why is my name the only one called out ? If I’m being honest, this is not only an assassination of my character, it is a rape of my character.“

She said that women in politics face many problems. “When a woman enters politics, she needs to be able to handle many things, and I am doing so. Such a step should not be taken against any woman,” she said.
