Of the many different kinds of content available on YouTube, how do you know what’s hot and trending? Here we have a list of the most loved people on YouTube for different categories. 


PewDiePie


Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, a 26-year-old Swedish man, widely known by his online profile name Pewdiepie is the most subscribed person on YouTube. This popular gaming channel with more than 47,895,404 subscribers has turned a passive activity of gaming into an active and entertaining enjoyment. It has stayed the most subscribed channel since August 15, 2013. It was however, briefly surpassed by YouTube’s spotlight channel in November and December 2013. The channel has more than 13 billion video views and PewDiePie was named among one of the 100 most influential people by Times magazine in 2016. PewDiePie refers to his fan base as the “Bro Army”, and individual fans as “bros”. Through his Bro Army fan base, PewDiePie has raised money for many charities. Due to his popularity, when he plays a game on his channel it creates an Oprah effect and it boosts the sales of those games, even though it wasn’t the intended purpose.


 


HolaSoyGerman 



Germán Alejandro Garmendia Aranís, popularly known by his YouTube channel name HolaSoyGerman is a You Tuber from Chile. His channel holds the position of the second most subscribed channel on YouTube and the most subscribed in Spanish language with 29,188,514 subscribers. He was very interested in music from a young age, and when he was 13, he formed a band with his brother that was called “Zudex”. He has produced a variety of songs with his band that are all available on his channel on YouTube. He has even released a book titled “#Chupaelperro”(Spanish for “Lick the dog”) on the April 28, 2016. He describes it as a mix between a book and a magazine and the name comes from a recurring joke that appears in many of his videos, stemming from an attempt to improve a common vulgar phrase in Spanish. He is the only You Tuber till date to obtain two Diamond Play Buttons for achieving 10 million subscribers on both of his main channel and daily channel.

Smosh 



Smosh is a YouTube channel of a comedic duo that consists of Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla. They regularly make videos for YouTube and their own website smosh.com and have more than 22,399,081 subscribers. The name smosh came up when one of Anthony’s friends said “smosh pit” instead of “mosh pit”. It became an inside joke and has become the name of one of the biggest YouTube stars. They started out with music videos, the most viewed of which was the pokemon theme song, which later had to be removed for copyright issues. They have since moved on to comedy ‘episodes’ which started out with short videos and now are a full skit, 3 to 6 minutes long. Their latest series include food battle, every [blank] ever and if [blank] were real. 


Fine brothers 


Benny and Rafi Fine, known together as the Fine Brothers, are most famous for their react videos. They have been creating online content since 2004. Their channel has over three billion views and has peaked at over 14 million subscribers. They have three YouTube channels, TheFineBros, TheFineBros2 and a React channel. Their react videos are split into kids react, teens react, adults react, elders react and You Tubers react. Maisie Williams was one of the reactors before she got casted in Game of Thrones and makes special appearances from time to time. Their other contents include Last Moments of Relationships, Spoiler Alert, Emo Dad etc.


Zoella 


A British You Tuber, Zoe Elizabeth Sugg started her YouTube channel in 2009 when her blog reached thousands of followers in less than a year. Popularly known as Zoella, her channel consists of makeup tutorials, fashion, beauty hauls and her favorites (the favorite things of the previous month) and has more than 11,109,743 subscribers. Her debut book “Girl Online” had the highest book sales for a debut author since the list was started in 1998 where she sold 78,109 copies on the first day. Zoe won the 2011 Cosmopolitan Blog Award in the “Best Established Beauty Blog” category and went on to win the “Best Beauty Vlogger” award the following year after which she has continuously won many awards for the fashion/beauty category. There is a beauty vlogger named Yuya who has a higher number of subscribers with over 15,907,811 subscribers but since she is a Spanish speaking vlogger with no English subtitles her videos aren’t as accessible and Zoella continues to dominate.   


Prank VS Prank 



Prank VS Prank is a YouTube channel started by Jesse Michael Wellens and his girlfriend Jennifer “Jeana” Smith where they upload videos of playing pranks on each other. Their second channel is the BFvsGF channel where they vlog about their daily lives. They won the streamy award for the best prank show in 2015 and the shorty award for the best YouTube ensemble. This channel, however, is down for a while since the couple split from their almost seven years of vlogging together and decided to take a break with a very emotional video with promise that they won’t let the channel die out. 


Crazy Russian hacker 


Taras Kulakov, a Russian-American You Tuber, popularly known as the crazy Russian hacker has over 8,611,639 subscribers on the YouTube channel he created in 2012. The contents he uploads are life hacks and experimental videos where he tries out all kinds of objects that are supposed to make your life easier, rating them and letting us know whether they really work or not. Popular for his sense of humor and his Russian accent, he uploads videos every week and has a safety advice intro to his video where he proceeds to don laboratory safety goggles. He created two channels before he finally got third time lucky and his reach skyrocketed.  


Scott Herman Fitness



A YoutTube channel completely dedicated to health and fitness, this has over 1,115,921 subscribers. Scott had been working in Gold’s Gym in Massachusetts since the age of 14 and proceeded to become a trainer at the age of 18. He has been training men and women between the ages 12 to 83 ever since. His YouTube channel is full of advice, tips and tricks to get the healthiest body possible.     


Epic Meal Time


A Canadian YouTube cooking show hosted by Harley Morenstein and his friends is well known for cooking extremely high calorie meals generally out of meat products and uses lots of bacon and alcohol. The idea for Epic Meal Time was created when a friend filmed Morenstein eating a hamburger that contained six patties and eighteen bacon strips to the theme song from The Terminator, which they posted on YouTube, and it gathered thousands of hits. They generate their revenue by selling merchandise and are planning on expanding on cookbooks and even a mobile app.
