Yesterday, Nepal launched its first ever satellite. Named as NepaliSat-1, the nanosatellite weighing 1 kg was airborne at 2:31 AM Nepali time from Virginia, United States.  In an exclusive interview with myrepublica.com, Pratik Rimal spoke to Abhas Maskey, who led the team of eight scientists from Japan, Bhutan and Sri Lanka to develop three BIRDS –III satellites.


Supreme Court issues interim order not to ban PUBG in Nepal


The Supreme Court has issued interim order in the name of the government not to implement the decision to ban PUBG, a popular first-person shooter multiple-player online game. The SC issued the interim ruling after a group of lawyers filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) at the apex court against the government decision to ban the PUBG.


Prez Bhandari leaving for State Visit to China on April 24 : MoFA


President Bidya Devi Bhandari will pay a week-long State Visit to China from April 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday. This is going to be the first visit of Bhandari to the northern neighbour since she began her second stint as the president in March, 2018.

Congress Prez Deuba urges party cadres to hold protests to unseat Oli-led govt


Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged his party cadres to hold protests to unseat the Oli-led administration. Addressing an event to mark the 49th founding anniversary of the Nepal Students’ Union in the capital, Deuba argued that the incumbent government has failed to live up to the people’ expectations.  He was of the view that time has come to hold protests to topple the government.


At least 104 dead in DR Congo boat accident


At least 104 people were killed after a boat capsized on Monday night on Lake Kivu in South Kivu province in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo). The administrator has confirmed the death of 104 people out of 150 that boarded the canoe, adding about thirty people were rescued during the sinking. In the same report given to the president, the local authorities pointed out that the overweight and poor sailing conditions caused the tragedy.
