APF takes Biratnagar in opener

POKHARA/CHITWAN, June 9: Armed Police Force (APF) Club is all set to take on Region No 1 (Biratnagar) in its opener of the 20-over's Prime Minister Cup Women's National Cricket Tournament to be jointly organized in Chitwan and Pokhara from Wednesday.

The match between APF and Biratnagar will be played at the Rangashala Ground in Pokhara.

Meanwhile, Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) will play against Region No 9 (Dhanagadhi) on the same day at the Chitwan Ground.APF, Region No 1 (Biratnagar), Region No 3 (Kathmandu), Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) and co-host Region No 8 (Pokhara) are in Group A, while Region No 2 (Birgunj), Region No 4 (Bhairahawa), Region No 6 (Baitadi) and Region No 7 (Janakpur) are in Group B.

All matches of Group B will be played at the Chitwan Ground, while all matches of Group A as well as two semifinals, third place as well as final matches will be held at the Rangashala Ground in Pokhara. The final match will be played on June 17.

The winner and runner-up will bag Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively. Player of the tournament will get Rs 10,000. Best batswoman and fair play team will get Rs 5,000 each, according to host.
