APF into semifinals

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) Club recorded two wins to enter the semifinals of the Fourth Nawa Adarsha Cup Women's National Volleyball Tournament that kicked off in Pokhara on Monday. Similarly, defending champion New Diamond Academy also recorded victory.

APF defeated Western and Rupandehi to sail into the last four as Group B winner. APF recorded 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 win over Western Region with Reshma Bhandari's player-of-the-match performance at Lamachaur.APF also beat Rupandehi 25-3, 25-10, 25-9 in another match played on same day. Sarswati Chaudhary was adjudged the player-of-the-match.

In Group A encounter, defending champion New Diamond edged past departmental side Tribhuvan Army Club 25-20, 21-25, 25-12, 25-22. Pratibha Mali won the player-of-the-match award for helping Diamond record the win.

The winner, runner-up and team finishing third and fourth will receive Rs 50,100, Rs 30,100, Rs 15,100 and Rs 10,100 respectively. The tournament which is being organized by Nava Jyoti Youth Club will conclude on Tuesday.
