Home Minister Bhim Bahadur Rawal handed over the cash prizes to the athletes amidst a function organized at the APF headquarter, Halchowk. APF handed Rs 50,000 each to the gold medalist Sunil Lama and Ganga Adhikari. Likewise, 14 silver medalists were awarded with Rs 35,000 each and five bronze medalists bagged Rs 20,000 each. [break]
APF promoted gold medalist Sunil Lama to the post of assistant head-constable from the post of constable. Sunil won the gold medal in the kumitte 55 kg event of Karate in the 11th SAG Dhaka.
Likewise, women footballers Mira Maharjan, Bhagawati Thapa, Pramila Rai, Nisha Dewan, Binita Shrestha, Mana Maya Magar, Anu Lama, Tulasha Singh, Jamuna Gurung, Laxmi Kumari Paudel, Usha Bhandari and Deepa Chhetri were also promoted to the post.
Likewise, badminton players Bishal Pradhan and Sujana Shrestha were also promoted to the same post. APF Inspector General Sanat Kumar Basnet handed over insignia to the promoted athletes.
APF constable Ganga Adhikari, who won gold in women´s kumitte 61 kg of karate, was awarded only cash prize. Likewise, silver medalist boxer Ajit Gurung and footballer Ranjana Darji also received cash prize. Bronze medalist badminton players Sajan Krishna Tamrakar, Puja Shrestha and Sabina Panthi were also awarded with cash prize.
Likewise, APF felicitated coaches associated with the APF Club and participated in the SAG. APF handed over cash prizes to karate coach Deepak Shrestha, boxing coach Kiran Shrestha and badminton coach Uday Shrestha at the same function.
Meanwhile, sister organization of ruling CPN-UML, Democratic National Youth Association also felicitated SAG medalists on Wednesday in Kathmandu.
