KATHMANDU, Feb 22: A taskforce formed to recommend facilities for players has suggested to the Ministry for Youth and Sports to provide facilities to the medalists of the South Asian Games (SAG), Asian Games and Olympics.
The taskforce's coordinator Upendra Poudel, who is also a member of the National Sports Council (NSC), handed over a seven-point recommendation letter to Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Sripali at Singha Durbar on Wednesday.
Municipalities without facilities
The taskforce has suggested the ministry to provide full discount on education and health services along with 50 percent discount on transportation and entertainment to 110 players who have won gold medals in SAG so far and other medals in Asian games.
Similarly, it has also suggested 80 percent discount on education and health services and 50 percent discount on transportation and entertainment to the 231 SAG silver medalists and Olympians.
Likewise, it has recommended 70 percent discount on education and health services to the 442 SAG bronze medalists along with half discount on transportation and entertainment.
The taskforce also suggested to the ministry to provide regular motivational allowances to the Asian Games and SAG medalists. It also has asked the ministry to take initiative to set up Sports University.
