Maoist Center gears up for Central Committee meeting

KATHMANDU, July 26: The CPN (Maoist Center) is preparing for its Central Committee meeting to be held in the beginning of August.

It is said that an informal discussion regarding the preparations for the upcoming Central Committee meeting was held at the office-bearers’ meeting held today at the party’s central office in Paris Danda under the chairmanship of deputy prime minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

Dorprasad Upadhyaya, secretary of the party office, said that matters such as the management of the central committee meeting, submission of documents and program details were discussed in the meeting. "An informal meeting was held regarding the preparations for the Central Committee meeting on August 2," he said. He also said that there was a discussion in the meeting about whether to organize the discussion, to have a group discussion or to have separate opinions.

According to Secretary Upadhyaya, there was no discussion about the 'agenda' of the Central Committee meeting in today's meeting. He said that the meeting to be held after Prime Minister and party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is on a visit to Italy, returns to the country, will decide the agenda.

Secretary Upadhyaya said, "After the Prime Minister and Party Chairman returns to the country, the office-bearers' meeting to be held on July 29 will decide the agenda." It is said that more than 700 people including central members, alternate central members, provincial and commission officials will participate in the meeting. Upadhyaya said that the office-bearers’ meeting will be held again today at 4 pm in preparation for the Central Committee meeting.
