KATHMANDU, April 5: People wishing to enter the Kathmandu Valley are now required to undergo an antigen test before their arrival in the country’s federal capital city.
A meeting of COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee of Kathmandu district on Monday decided to administer antigen tests at major entry points to the Valley, according to Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Kali Prasad Parajuli.

Parajuli, however, clarified that the antigen test will be administered to the suspected COVID-19 patients.
“Respective local units are required to make necessary arrangements for the test, establishing health desks. Similarly, respective health authorities will provide them with the antigen test kits,” Parajuli told Republica over the phone. Those testing positive through antigen tests will have to go through RT-PCR tests, according to the directive issued by the CCMC.
All the local units of the Valley are also asked to update the existing isolation centers and quarantine centers. “They are also required to set up at least one isolation center and one quarantine center,” states the directive.
